Personal Commendations, Desertion, and Divine Deliverance

2 Timothy 4:9-18

4
Chapter 4
9 Be eager to come to me quickly. 10 For Demas forsook me, having loved this present age, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry. 12 But I sent Tychicus to Ephesus. 13 The cloak that I left in Troas with Carpus, bring when you come, and the books, especially the parchments. 14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm—the Lord will repay him according to his works— 15 Guard against him too, for he strongly opposed our words. 16 At my first defense no one stood with me, but all deserted me. May it not be counted against them— 17 But the Lord stood by me and empowered me, so that through me the preaching might be fully accomplished and that all the nations might hear; and I was delivered from the mouth of the lion. 18 The Lord will deliver me from every evil work and will save me into his heavenly kingdom; to whom be the glory forever and ever, amen.
